Texas ASLA Chapter Members:

As 2017 is quickly coming to a close, your newly seated Executive Committee has hit the ground running, much due to the success of Bobby Eichholz’s leadership this last year as your Chapter President. I am grateful to have served as your President-Elect during that time, and look forward to continuing as a part of your elected leadership in 2018 as President.

2017 was a tremendous success for Texas ASLA. We saw our Chapter leadership tackle two advocacy efforts that included the education of our profession at the State Capitol, and another that preemptively aligned ourselves with the similar interests of allied professions to defend against a threat to municipal and jurisdictional authorities to write local ordinances and govern themselves during the summer’s Special Session of the State Legislative. This past year the Chapter also saw the continuing financial growth of our four university scholarship endowments. Through the much-appreciated fund-raising efforts of our Section membership, Sponsors, and our Silent Auction at Conference the Chapter was able to contribute $5,000 to each of the accredited Landscape Architecture schools in Texas. And certainly not the last or least achievement, the Chapter conducted another successful annual conference in Austin this past Spring with record-breaking attendance.

As most all of you are aware, our annual Chapter conference is a wonderful event that offers continuing education opportunities, provides for networking, give hands-on time with product suppliers and manufacturers in the Exhibit Hall, and promotes comradery amongst colleagues and friends. The conference planning efforts are well underway for our return to Galveston, April 18-20, where I will look forward to seeing many of your faces, catching up with, and reconnecting with those I haven’t not seen in too long of time. I am excited to serve in this new leadership position as your Chapter President for 2018 and serving the needs of our Texas members.
Happy Holidays,

Clifton Hall, ASLA
