WHAT
Plenary Sessions / Break Out Sessions / Mobile Workshops

Networking and sharing ideas with other trail partners is a big advantage of attending the 16th Texas Trails and Active Transportation Conference. Several sessions and field trips are set for exchanging ideas including our awards banquet and sponsor’s socials. Mobile workshops and field trips will also expose participants to existing and future “active transportation” facilities around the Austin area. The City of Austin continues building and upgrading. Collaboration and partnerships with allied groups such as Austin based Texas Active Living Network and BikeTexas promise a bright future for area hikers, bicyclists, canoeists, kayakers, and equestrians.

"...the {2009} conference was one of the best I have been to. The sessions were so informative for what our City is trying to accomplish. Thank you so much for a great conference. I hope to see you next year."  - Heidi Shannon, League City

TRAILS & ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION!

Hiking boots, a walking stick and water bottle may have been “active transportation” a few years ago, but things have changed. Today, active transportation includes walking, cycling or paddling to work, school and play, developing (or redeveloping) communities to encourage pedestrian travel, designing facilities for fitness and adding green spaces to bolster personal and financial health. Active transportation requires partnerships in many areas of municipal/state government, non profit transportation advocacy groups, trail users, transportation planners/funders and private businesses. This year’s conference offers you a comprehensive look at what active transportation is and will be, in Texas and your role in making it happen.
